Highlights: Alex is a fourth year dual MD/MBA student at the University of Michigan Medical School and Ross School of Business. During medical school, he has worked on a number of health services research projects through the Michigan Value Collaborative (MVC), served as an executive board member of the UofM chapter of the American Medical Association, and worked as a student staff member at the Value-Based Insurance Design (V-BID) Center. Prior to medical school, Alex worked at Acumen LLC, an economic consulting firm specializing in policy analysis and comparative effectiveness research for the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS). He later worked at the Clinical Excellence Research Center, an incubator for high-value care delivery innovations at Stanford University’s School of Medicine, and completed an internship in marketing and product management at a biomedical device company in Sydney, Australia.
Education: Alex earned a BA in Economics from Stanford University in 2013. He is currently pursuing his MD-MBA at the University of Michigan with an anticipated graduate year of 2020.
Built programmatic infrastructure to monitor outcomes for a Center for Medicare and Medicaid Innovation (CMMI) Accountable Care Organization pilot for End Stage Renal Disease beneficiaries
Used nationally-representative claims datasets and outcome registry data to identify high-value healthcare providers in seven medical specialties, and organized teams of clinical experts to qualitatively study the clinical and operational drivers of their success.
Developed and presented the business case for the development of a risk-bearing insurance product for children with special healthcare needs to the CEO and Board of Stanford Children’s Health
Analyzed the impact of a biomedical device company’s product line of ancillary clinical tools and services on brand preference in the Australian and Asia/Pacific markets
